Target Beneficiaries
- Gambian citizens enrolled or accepted into accredited public universities or tertiary institutions in The Gambia.
- Priority will be given to:
- First-generation university students
- Students from rural or marginalized communities
- Girls and women in STEM or vocational education
- Students with disabilities
Funding Criteria
Category | Eligibility | Level of Support |
Fully Needy Students | No financial aid from other institutions; meets income and academic threshold | Up to 100% of tuition + academic support |
Partially Funded Students | Already receiving partial funding from the government, NGOs, or other private institutions | Up to 50% of tuition gap, not exceeding GMD 10,000 annually |
Students in Critical Fields | Enrolled in priority sectors (STEM, education, healthcare) | Eligible for enhanced mentoring & internship programs |
Full scholarship elsewhere | Not eligible | Not applicable |
General Eligibility Requirements
- Must have completed WASSCE or equivalent with at least 5 credits including English and Mathematics.
- Must submit proof of admission or active enrolment in a recognized Gambian university or tertiary institution.
- Household income must fall below a defined annual threshold (to be set in local currency in consultation with MoHERST and GBoS data).
- Academic performance must be maintained throughout the scholarship period (minimum GPA 2.75 on 4.0 scale or equivalent).
